About lf4vet
Our Mission
LF4VET – Learning Factories for the pedagogical and digital transformation of VET systems is an Erasmus+ cooperation project that aims to support Vocational Education and Training (VET) centers in responding to the digital and green transitions of European industry. Across Europe, VET systems are under increasing pressure to equip learners with skills that match rapidly evolving industrial environments.
Digitalisation, automation and sustainability are transforming how work is organised, requiring new technical competences as well as transversal skills such as adaptability, collaboration and systems thinking. In this context, Learning Factories (LFs) have emerged as powerful educational environments that replicate real industrial settings and enable experiential, hands-on learning.
A Human-Centric Learning Factory Approach for VET
While Learning Factories are well established in higher education, their systematic adoption in VET remains challenging. Differences in curricula, learner profiles, infrastructure and teaching practices require Learning Factories to be adapted to the specific characteristics of vocational education. LF4VET addresses this need by developing VET-oriented pedagogical frameworks, technological guidelines and practical tools that support the effective design and operation of Learning Factories in VET centers.
The project is grounded in the principles of Industry 5.0, placing people, sustainability and resilience at the centre of technological development. LF4VET promotes human-centric learning environments, supports the integration of advanced manufacturing and digital technologies, and encourages the design of sustainable and inclusive learning spaces.
Through a strong European partnership bringing together VET centres, higher education institutions and innovation organisations, LF4VET develops and validates its approaches through pilot implementations in different regional contexts. The project fosters collaboration between education and industry and contributes to the long-term modernisation of VET systems in Europe.
