WHAT WE AIM TO ACHIEVE

LF4VET aims to support the pedagogical, digital and organisational transformation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems through the effective adoption of Learning Factories adapted to VET contexts. While Learning Factories are well established in higher education and research environments, their systematic use in VET remains challenging due to differences in learner profiles, curricula, infrastructure and teaching practices. LF4VET addresses this gap by developing tailored frameworks, tools and validated practices that respond to the specific needs of VET centers.

The project is grounded in the principles of Industry 5.0, placing people, sustainability and resilience at the core of technological transformation. Through a holistic approach, LF4VET seeks to ensure that Learning Factories become effective learning environments for skill development, innovation and collaboration between education and industry.

1. Adapt Learning Factories to VET realities

LF4VET aims to contextualise Learning Factory concepts for VET systems across different European regions. This includes identifying how Learning Factories can be aligned with VET curricula, qualification levels and institutional constraints, while maintaining strong links to real industrial processes and labour market needs.

2. Strengthen pedagogical approaches for VET Learning Factories

The project develops pedagogical frameworks that support interdisciplinary, practice-based and learner-centred education. These frameworks are designed to help VET centers integrate Learning Factory activities into their teaching programmes, fostering active learning, problem-solving and collaboration.

3. Support teachers and trainers in pedagogical and digital transitions

Recognising the central role of educators, LF4VET provides tools and guidance to support teachers and trainers in adopting new teaching methods, managing technological change and engaging learners in Learning Factory environments.

4. Enable meaningful integration of advanced technologies

LF4VET explores methods for integrating Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 technologies, such as digital twins, automation, data-driven systems and smart manufacturing tools, into VET Learning Factories in a pedagogically effective, human-centred and cost-aware manner.

5. Promote human-centric and sustainable Learning Factory design

The project places strong emphasis on sustainability, inclusion and well-being. LF4VET supports VET centres in designing Learning Factory workplaces that consider environmental impact, energy efficiency, ergonomics and social responsibility.
