Our mission

LF4VET generates impact at multiple levels by supporting the long-term pedagogical, digital and organisational transformation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems. By adapting Learning Factories to VET realities and embedding Industry 5.0 principles, the project contributes to more relevant, inclusive and sustainable vocational education across Europe.

1. Impact on VET learners

LF4VET enhances the learning experience of VET students by providing access to realistic, practice-based Learning Factory environments aligned with real industrial processes.

Learners benefit from:

  • Improved job readiness through hands-on engagement with Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies

  • Development of transversal skills such as problem-solving, collaboration and adaptability

  • Increased awareness of sustainability, human-centric work practices and responsible production

  • Stronger motivation and engagement through experiential and project-based learning

By bridging education and real work contexts, LF4VET supports smoother transitions from training to employment.

LF4VET strengthens the capacity of VET educators to manage pedagogical and digital transitions.

The project supports teachers and trainers by:

  • Providing practical pedagogical frameworks tailored to Learning Factories in VET

  • Supporting the adoption of learner-centred, interdisciplinary and active learning methods

  • Enhancing confidence in using advanced manufacturing and digital technologies

  • Fostering professional development and collaboration within and across institutions

This contributes to more resilient teaching practices and empowers educators as key actors of innovation in VET.

At institutional level, LF4VET supports VET centres in designing, operating and scaling Learning Factories in a strategic and sustainable way.

Expected impacts include:

  • Improved alignment between curricula, infrastructure and labour market needs

  • More effective integration of digital and green transitions into institutional strategies

  • Enhanced organisational capacity to manage complex learning environments

  • Increased collaboration with industry, higher education and innovation ecosystems

Learning Factories become not only training spaces, but catalysts for institutional transformation.

LF4VET strengthens links between education and industry by aligning training content with real production environments and emerging skills needs.

Industry benefits from:

  • Better prepared graduates with relevant technical and transversal competencies

  • Increased awareness of human-centric, sustainable and resilient production models

  • Opportunities to collaborate with VET centres in skills development and innovation

This contributes to a more responsive workforce and supports Europe’s industrial competitiveness.

Beyond individual organisations, LF4VET contributes to systemic change by providing transferable models, tools and policy recommendations.

At system level, the project:

  • Supports evidence-based integration of Learning Factories into VET policies

  • Promotes common European approaches while respecting national and regional diversity

  • Contributes to EU priorities on digital transformation, green skills and social inclusion

  • Strengthens the role of VET in the Industry 5.0 transition

The project’s results support long-term uptake and scalability beyond the partnership.

LF4VET is designed for sustainability and replication. Through pilot implementations, dissemination activities and engagement with VET networks, the project ensures that its results remain accessible and usable after the project ends.

In the long term, LF4VET contributes to:

  • A stronger European community of practice around Learning Factories in VET

  • Increased capacity of VET systems to respond to technological and societal change

  • More inclusive, human-centred and sustainable vocational education across Europe
